PM update
over 7 years ago – Tue, Nov 29, 2016 at 08:01:40 PM

Greetings Heroes,

So a quick update just to keep you all in the loop: We’ve received the final shipping costs and other details relevant to the Pledge Manager. We’re going to make sure everything is neat and tidy before running a few tests to make sure it all perfect. Normally that means we’ll be looking to start the PM around the end of the week/weekend. A few days late, and my apologies for that, but we want to make sure we’re offering the best service possible.

Thanks!

On the Horizon

Greetings heroes,

I hope this update finds you all well in this rather chilly weather we’re having and it’s time to give you an update on how things are going with the post-campaign organisation.

So, first of all the Pledge Manager: For those of you unfamiliar with this phase, it’s where we’ll be collecting all the information needed to send you your copy of the game as well as collecting the funds for shipping and any other items you may want to acquire. The PM will be run by a service called Backer Kit which will be familiar to a lot of you as they are probably the best service in the industry for this.

Currently the content of the PM is all set up and ready to roll out, we’re just waiting on some final shipping details to make sure the prices are spot on. Normally we would like to launch the PM this Sunday (one month after the end of the campaign) but with Thanksgiving now upon us our American shipping partners are taking a well-deserved break so by the time we hear back from them we’ll probably be looking to launch mid to end of next week.

The process is very simple however I will still post a quick guide to using the PM platform before it goes live :)

In other news: Vincent is gearing up for the last big push with the artwork to get it all finished. Rest assured we’ll keep you updated with his progress as he turns out new pieces!

David has finished the final models which have been sent for manufacturing approval and once they’re confirmed we will of course show them to you (although a part from a few tweaks, notably to Hal, they’re more or less what you saw before).

On a manufacturing note we’re waiting for the final pricing and specs to come through for approval and once the art and minis are finished we can move straight into production!

Once we have all the details on these different processes, I’ll be sure to fix up a timeline so that you can all see what’s happening at any given time.

See you next week for the PM!

Journey to the East
over 7 years ago – Wed, Nov 16, 2016 at 08:05:59 AM

Greetings Heros!

Last week I was spirited away to Seoul, Korea for a rather special event: The Master Class of Boardgame Design hosted by our own Mandoo Games! The event was meant to stimulate the creativity and productivity of the emerging Korean board game scene which it did, and then some!

Many speakers of different professions were there including the creator of Jenga Leslie Scott, Anita Landgraf of White Castle, Nobuaki Takerube from Japan Brand, an author who needs no introduction, Bruno Cathala as well as M. Dutrait and me!

As I’m sure you could have guessed, Vincent’s speech was all about the importance of an illustrator’s work in a board game and my own was a primer on Kickstarter project management for a country that is only just starting to get into Crowdfunding (Rising 5 being one of the first!).

I think I can easily say that the 200+ attendees, that counted amongst them authors, artists, designers, teachers (educational games being a big thing in Korea) and publishers devoured all the information that we threw their way and then asked for seconds! I can’t speak for everyone but myself and Vincent wished we could have talked even longer so as to answer everyone’s questions!

Long story short, an excellent event! But that’s not all I was up to over there. I, Vincent and Kevin met up for a long discussion on the end of the R5 campaign and to plan out the next steps! Once I have a more finalised vision of the timescales I’ll put a timeline together for you all but at the moment this is how we stand:

Production: Final contents of both pledges have been finalised as well as the materials and specifications. Artwork: Vincent is currently working away on the remaining artwork, this should be done by the end of the month.

Miniatures: We’ve sent the models back for a final touch up and then the files are off to our manufacturers for test printing!

Rulebook: One of the biggest fans of Rising 5 who made himself known during the campaign is Sebastien Pauchon. That name may indeed sound familiar to you; he’s a hell of a game designer and one of the driving forces behind the prestigious Space Cowboys: A big French publisher known for some amazing games such as Splendor, Elysium and T.I.M.E. Stories! Now, this man is one of the best rules authors I’ve had the pleasure of reading and he has very generously offered to help us with the R5 rulebook! He’s put quite a lot of work into it and we can only express our thanks because, as you’ll soon see, his intervention has made the rules clear, concise and simple to follow. We still have to finish putting everything in place on the new documentbut once that’s done you guys will be the first to see it!

Pledge Manager: We’re still waiting on the backer info from Kickstarter (this will arrive at the same time as the funds) and once we have that we can get down to business. We’re estimating last week of November for the PM start band I’ll of course share more info with you guys as we get closer to the date.

So things are ticking away nicely behind the scenes! If you guys have any issues with payment or any questions then please feel free to contact us as per usual!

Until next time.

KS payment issues
over 7 years ago – Wed, Nov 09, 2016 at 01:42:33 AM

Heroes,

Well, I won’t lie, I think a weekend away did everyone the world of good. Kickstarters are tiring endeavours no matter how many them you’ve done so it’s always good to step away for a breather afterwards!

Anyways, back to business as usual!

So in reply to a few questions:

Some of you have been having a few issues with processing your pledge. Please note that for some (a lot) of you this is a foreign payment so some banks may refuse this automatically. Should you be unable to process your payment please contact your local branch first to make sure this isn’t coming from their end.

After which, please bear in mind that we do not manage the payments, it is Kickstarter and Stripe you will have to contact for further assistance at:

https://www.kickstarter.com/contact

Or

https://support.stripe.com

I hope that helps folks, if you have any other questions don’t hesitate to ask!

Some things are best left buried
over 7 years ago – Tue, Nov 01, 2016 at 06:01:23 PM

Grretings heroes,

We’ve talked a lot about the priceless relics hidden away on Asteros, and we’ve found a lot of them too, but some things are best left buried as not only good things are sealed away over time.

The trap car represent these nefarious remenants or a bygone age, something that was never meant to be found, let alone released. When revealed you immediately suffer a penalty in Silk, aid or action cards and then roll the combat die to see if the card is discarded or shuffled back into the pack. A new and tricky addition to the encounter decks!

Next up we have 2 “united” artifacts, less powerfull on their own but together they trigger something much more powerful!

Finally we have the renders for Both Orakl and Hal! Once again these are more or less complete but we’ll be doing some fine tuning to them before they’re sent to production.
