Production update (with photos!)
almost 7 years ago – Mon, Jul 24, 2017 at 03:32:11 PM

Greetings Heroes,

As promised I come with new tidings (and lots of pictures) to keep you all up to speed about the production of Rising 5!

As you can see below things are turning out VERY NICELY:

However, according to the factory we are running behind schedule by about two weeks. This is apparently due to the big Gencon and Essen production rushes amongst other things. I am kind of disappointed about this but it’s not a huge setback, things are clearly going well otherwise and we’ll still be hitting our October target.

Concerning the PM, some of you have contacted us and provided your details but not everyone, some even with quite substantial pledges so please think to check if you’ve completed the PM! If you need any help or have any questions feel free to send us a Message here on Kickstarter!

Until next time!

J.

Production begins!
almost 7 years ago – Wed, Jun 28, 2017 at 08:41:07 AM

Greetings heroes,

So after our previous update I’m happy to report that the games are currently under production!

After having verified the final prototype we made the following changes to the box:

  • The plastic tray colour is now a Bordeaux red.
  • The Slots for the minis are now a slightly better fit.
  • The red moon is now…red, or to be precise Pms 1665 c, a menacing red/orange colour.
  • The slots for storing cards will now fit sleeved cards correctly. • Some new board artwork.
  • A few graphical tweaks, a few cards were off centre, etc.

Otherwise, all seems to be well and on schedule and we’re looking forward to the final and most delicate part of the project: Shipping

To this end please double check that you have filled in your pledge manager. About 40 of you have still to do so! Some of these are 1$ pledges, others are significantly more. Please note that if you don’t fill in your PM we can’t guarantee you’ll receive your copy later and this may also incur additional postage charges!

We’ll be contacting those of you who haven’t filled in your PM individually so please keep an eye on your inboxes! You have until the end of next week (9th of July) to complete it!

Until next time!

Hero's Edition Preview
almost 7 years ago – Sat, Jun 10, 2017 at 12:01:26 AM

Greetings heroes !

So this update is a bit behind schedule but as you can see it was well worth the wait!

We have received the finalised prototype for the hero edition from the factories and quite frankly it’s stunning!

The material quality for everything, from the box to the book, all the tokens and even the plastic tray are just spot on!

We also have the miniatures of course in their coloured forms. Like the box they are pretty much perfect, just some slight tweaking for the colours and they’ll be everything we were hoping for!

If we go back to the graph from the previous update; despite the slight delay we are still looking pretty good! Once we’ve checked everything over this weekend we can give the factory a go on the paper and card elements!

Until next time folks!

Finalised Models and Production Schedule
almost 7 years ago – Wed, May 10, 2017 at 01:42:33 AM

Greetings Heroes !

The past few updates were a bit light but hopefully today’s one should more than make up for it as we have plenty to talk about. So let’s get right into it.

The models, ah yes models, both the boon and bane of many KS board games. The good news is that the Rising 5 mini prototypes have been completed and approved by our friends at Mandoo Games. Of course, this did take longer than expected. Why? Well as you know the scale was off for us when last we showed them to you: Eli and Orakl in particular just did not look the part. We also took the opportunity to sharpen the details on the minis to better adapt to the moulding process. On top of this the folks at Longshore have also optimized the miniatures for assembly (being multipart pieces). We then suffered a few, how should I call it, file incompatibilities between the factory and the sculptor which was nobody’s fault in particular but lost us some time. We’re now starting the mould fabrication process which should take around 6 weeks. Despite all this we’re still fine timewise and we’ll be meeting our goal of having some sweet models for you guys to save the world with.

So, now that that hurdle is cleared, what happens next?

Well, plastic elements aside, the game files are 100% complete. This includes the game components, box, art book and of course the rule book. Our thanks once again to those that pitched in during the proof reading process.

Also, a note concerning a small but important detail about the Kickstarter copies. Originally, we had thought to do an English and French run of the Kickstarter edition but with the quantities involved it has become clear that a bilingual version was much more viable. Therefore, both English and French language backers will be receiving the same game. Now this makes almost no difference to what you would have received as the game is language independent. English backers will simply find a (separate) set of French rules in their box and French backers will have English text on the back of their box. Our apologies for this small, but never the less noticeable, change.

Next week, around the 15th, we should be receiving the final production prototypes so you can expect the next update to follow hot on the heels of this one! Once we’ve verified these we can approve the production process. Given the extended time needed to produce the plastic elements of the game we’ll be going ahead and finishing all the other elements beforehand and therefore all that will need to be done is to complete the final assembly once the models are ready.

The tail end of the Rising 5 project should look something like this:

The be all and end all is that we should be looking at a delivery date some time around the end of August. We’ll see how things play out but we should have the game in your hands about a month before we initially promised.

In all honesty, we thought we might have overdone it with our announced date of October. We were quite optimistic that the game would be delivered much sooner than that. Having quite a bit of experience in the field means we ultimately decided to play it safe however. You can never be sure exactly what situation you could find yourself faced with…like the ones we faced the past few months. So, all in all, I must say that we’re happy to have made the right call yet (as long as nothing else comes up!) still be getting your games to you ahead of time!

As it stands, everything is now in the hands of Mandoo and Longshore. Whilst we’ll of course be helping as needed it leaves us free to move on to other projects, some of which we may talk about some other time.

Until then I wish you a happy hump day and see you again sooner than usual for more news!

Digital application upgrade.
about 7 years ago – Wed, Apr 19, 2017 at 06:46:23 PM

Greetings Heroes,

I hope this update finds you all well and that you had a nice Easter break!

Longshore is also back from their holidays and after some final modifications we made prior to Easter’s arrival they should be starting the second set of prototypes shortly. Once these are confirmed we’ll be ready to start production! Never fear that we will of course be sure to show you these as soon as we get them.

Also, a thank you for those that chimed in on the rulebooks, the final few changes have been made and are ready to roll out too. Vincent has also finalised the artbook and all I can say is that I’m super psyched to see it “In the flesh” so to speak. For the man’s first artbook (I know, difficult to believe, right?) he has certainly pulled out all the stops!

We have been moving forward on other fronts too with updates to the digital application. It now features the updated and corrected rules, new artwork as well as some interface changes. It should also perform better and consume even less battery than before to boot!

If you want to check it out the app is already available on the AppStore and Google Play.

Next time we should have the final mini prototypes to show you and news about the production cycle!

Until then folks!
